1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Maple Exchange mobile application or any associated services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. You must be at least 18 years of age and a resident of Canada to use Maple Exchange.
2. Description of Service
Maple Exchange is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency exchange platform that enables users in Canada to buy and sell digital assets including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Litecoin (LTC), XRP, and Chainlink (LINK) using Canadian dollars (CAD) via Interac e-Transfer. The Service also includes cryptocurrency wallet management, staking products, and portfolio tracking features.
3. Account Registration and Verification
To use the Service, you must create an account with a valid email address. To conduct trades, you are required to complete identity verification (Know Your Customer, or KYC) by providing your full legal name, date of birth, address, phone number, and government-issued photo identification. We reserve the right to refuse service to any applicant who fails identity verification.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
4. Trading
Order MatchingMaple Exchange matches buyers and sellers through our order book system. When a match is found, a trade is created with a time-limited payment window. The seller's cryptocurrency is held in escrow until payment is confirmed.
FeesA taker fee is charged on each trade. Current fee rates are displayed at the time of order placement. We reserve the right to modify fee structures with reasonable advance notice.
Trade LimitsNew users are subject to initial trade limits that increase based on account verification level and trading history. Maximum trade limits are enforced per transaction and on a daily basis.
PaymentAll fiat payments between users are conducted via Interac e-Transfer. Maple Exchange does not process or hold fiat currency directly. Users are responsible for sending and receiving payments correctly within the specified payment windows.
5. Deposits and Withdrawals
Cryptocurrency DepositsYou may deposit supported cryptocurrencies to your Maple Exchange wallet from external wallets. Deposits require a minimum number of blockchain confirmations before being credited to your account.
Cryptocurrency WithdrawalsYou may withdraw your cryptocurrency holdings to any valid external wallet address. Withdrawals are subject to network fees and may require administrative approval above certain thresholds. A holding period may apply to recently purchased cryptocurrency.
IrreversibilityBlockchain transactions are irreversible. Maple Exchange is not responsible for cryptocurrency sent to incorrect addresses. Please verify all addresses carefully before initiating transfers.
6. Staking and Earn Products
Maple Exchange may offer staking or earn products that allow you to earn rewards on supported assets. Staking terms, including lock-up periods and reward rates, are displayed at the time of staking. Reward rates are estimates and may vary. Staked assets may be subject to lock-up periods during which they cannot be withdrawn.
7. Prohibited Activities
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for money laundering, terrorist financing, or any illegal activity
- Provide false or misleading identity information
- Attempt to manipulate the order book or engage in wash trading
- Use automated systems or bots to interact with the Service without authorization
- Circumvent trade limits, verification requirements, or security measures
- Access accounts belonging to other users
- Use the Service from jurisdictions where cryptocurrency trading is prohibited
8. Dispute Resolution
In the event of a dispute between a buyer and seller, either party may open a dispute through the platform. Our administrative team will review the evidence and make a determination. Decisions by our dispute resolution team are final and binding. We reserve the right to freeze funds involved in a dispute until resolution.
9. Risk Disclosure
Cryptocurrency is volatile.The value of cryptocurrencies can fluctuate significantly. You may lose some or all of your investment. Past performance is not indicative of future results.
Not insured.Cryptocurrency holdings on Maple Exchange are not insured by the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) or any other government agency.
Technology risks.Blockchain networks and our platform may experience technical difficulties, delays, or outages. We are not liable for losses resulting from technical failures beyond our reasonable control.
10. Intellectual Property
The Maple Exchange name, logo, and all associated branding, software, and content are the property of Maple Exchange. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from our intellectual property without written permission.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Canadian law, Maple Exchange shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, or loss of cryptocurrency. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the fees paid by you in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
12. Account Suspension and Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or if required by law. Upon termination, you may withdraw any remaining cryptocurrency balances subject to applicable holding periods and regulatory requirements.
13. Modifications
We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada.
